About
I am Johanna Lohrengel — an artist, illustrator, and storyteller crafting whimsical worlds from my little studio in Latvia.
Originally from Germany, I found myself rooted here almost by accident… or perhaps by invitation. Latvia’s folklore, mossy quiet, and slow-breathing landscapes felt like the perfect companions for the kind of art I long to make: gentle, dreamy, and alive with meaning.
My practice weaves together activism, ecology, and myth, guided by the principles of degrowth, care, and permaculture. I believe art can be a soft rebellion — a small pocket of beauty that resists the fast, the disposable, and the unfeeling. In a world rushing toward “more,” I choose slow, deliberate, handmade. Every piece is touched by my hands, shaped by local stories, and infused with the magic of the natural world around me.

For the ones who seek meaning, warmth, and a sense of belonging
My customers are people who feel a tug toward small wonders: those who crave something heartfelt and love pieces with a story. People who want to collaborate and enjoy the slow magic of co-creation.
If you’re looking for something that feels deeply yours, something infused with tenderness and imagination, you’ve found the right place.
